Gravity Forms By Gravity Forms Published January 25, 2023

Gravity Forms 2.7

Today we are excited to announce the release of Gravity Forms 2.7! After a very successful beta period, Gravity Forms will now become available to all customers via a phased rollout (see more on this below).

With this update you will find a number of impressive new features and additions to enhance your form building experience.

These include:

  • Added an improved Setup Wizard.
  • Added the Orbital Form Theme, a theme with opinionated styles that is customizable in the block style settings.
  • Added form style settings to the Gravity Forms block to allow users to easily customize the appearance of their forms.
  • Added the Form Template Library to make it easier to create common forms.
  • Added new Honeypot functionality to increase spam protection.
  • Added a new Honeypot form setting to allow entries to be created and marked as spam when the Honeypot catches a form submission.

What’s New with Gravity Forms 2.7?

Gravity Forms 2.7 sees a focus on streamlining processes for both new and existing customers – from the installation of the plugin, to the creation and styling of forms. Customers will benefit from a new built-in template library, significantly improved form styling options via a new form theme and block styling settings, as well as a redesigned Setup Wizard.

New 2.7 features include:

  • A New Built-In Form Template Library – Building a new form has never been easier with the new form template library that ships with Gravity Forms 2.7. Within the form template library, you’ll be able to choose from a selection of quick-start templates, including basic contact or newsletter signup forms, helping you to get your forms up and running on your site fast. Or opt for any of the more advanced templates that utilize our extensive collection of add-ons – such as user registration, payment, or donation forms – to cater to all your business needs.
  • Out-of-the-Box Block Styling Options – If you’ve ever had trouble getting your forms to look exactly how you want, then you are going to love the new styling options we’ve added to the block settings. With 2.7 you’ll find a new, highly extensible front-end theme framework, which incorporates a new form theme – Orbital! When using Orbital, you’ll find built-in block styling options, allowing you to tweak the color scheme of your form, alter the size of inputs, modify button styles, and much more – no CSS needed!
  • A Redesigned Setup Wizard – First impressions are important, so we’ve redesigned our Setup Wizard from the ground up to provide a friendlier, smoother, and more streamlined Gravity Forms experience from the get-go. The new Setup Wizard will enable customers to quickly get started and onboarded – new users can configure their Gravity Forms settings, agencies can opt to hide license details from clients, and if you’re a seasoned customer in a hurry, we know you’ll appreciate the faster setup times!
  • Honeypot Field Enhancements – Requests for improved spam form protection are something we hear constantly, so 2.7 addresses this issue head on by adding a more sophisticated honeypot mechanism to Gravity Forms. Alongside the traditional honeypot spam protection method, JavaScript will now be used to inject another honeypot field into the form right before it is submitted. This will help to identify and reduce the number of spam entries.
  • Developer Features – A significant shift in how we build our products sees us now building our 2.7 back-end features using React, creating a component library, a React build system, and a number of NPM packages. This means that, if you’re a developer, you can use our component library and build systems in your own add-ons, without having to worry about what version of Gravity Forms your users have.

Gravity Forms 2.7 also continues our commitment to security and accessibility with a number of enhancements, bug fixes, and other useful additions, ensuring the continued improvement of the plugin.

Update to Gravity Forms 2.7

As with all our major updates, the public launch of 2.7 will be via a phased rollout to ensure smooth adoption and provide a ramped approach to gathering feedback. This means that you’ll receive the 2.7 update through your WordPress Admin at some point during the rollout period, which is expected to be a few weeks long.

However, if you don’t want to wait, Gravity Forms 2.7 is also available to all our customers via a direct download from your Gravity Forms account dashboard.

To summarize:

  • Update Gravity Forms 2.7 in WordPress Admin – All customers can expect to receive an update during the rollout period (commencing 25th Jan, 2023). Once you receive the update, simply navigate to the Plugins page within your WordPress Admin, scroll down to Gravity Forms and select Update Now.
  • New Customers – Gravity Forms 2.7 is now available to buy. Check out our pricing page to find the plan that best suits your requirements.

Note: Caching and script optimization plugins and services have been known to cause problems with the functionality of forms when Gravity Forms is updated to the latest version. To counter this issue, we recommend clearing/flushing the caches and the browser cache following all updates.
