Gravity Forms Turns 4

We aren’t big on fanfare or over the top marketing here at Rocketgenius. Our focus is on keeping our heads down and delivering the best plugin in the WordPress community along with the best support to match. However, we seem to have neglected to call out an important milestone that occurred last Saturday, August 24th. Gravity Forms turned 4. Rocketgenius as a company is also turning 5. Time sure does fly!

A lot of companies would have jumped at the opportunity to turn a milestone such as this into some sort of marketing opportunity. Have a big sale, etc. But we truly have our noses to the grindstone to the point that the light bulb didn’t go off that we just reached a pretty amazing milestone as a company until I was thinking about it late last night.

On August 24th, 2009 we released Gravity Forms v1.0 to the public.

Here’s the original blog post announcement:

Gravity Forms Version 1.0 Released

Much to our amazement, our first sale occurred within just a few minutes of launching the site to the public. We launched the site at 5:00pm EST (yea, crazy time to launch) and our first purchase occurred at 5:03pm. When we received the purchase notification email we thought there must have been some sort of error, or possibly a delayed email from a test purchase we had made during our last round of testing. But nope, within 3 minutes we had our first customer.

Unfortunately the site the first customer installed Gravity Forms on is no longer with us (RIP), but thankfully we are… going strong and getting stronger.

I think it’s fitting that in the same month Gravity Forms turned 4 it also experienced both it’s best sales day ever and best sales month.

I’ve said it numerous times on blog comments, Twitter, Facebook, etc. whenever i’m involved in a discussion regarding Gravity Forms and building a business within the WordPress ecosystem but I’ll say it again: Even though Gravity Forms has been around for 4 years, we’ve truly only just begun.

The future is exciting and I’m glad that I get to experience this ride with the entire team here at Rocketgenius, our amazing customers and the WordPress ecosystem as a whole. Thanks for making the last 4 years fun, exciting and fulfilling for us as a company. As I said above, we’ve only just begun!
