Gravity SMTP 1.6 is packed with new features, so without further ado, let’s jump in…

Send Emails from WordPress with Zoho Mail

Zoho Mail

With Gravity SMTP 1.6 you can now connect and send your WordPress emails with Zoho Mail.

Zoho Mail is a popular and secure email hosting solution, ideal for both personal and business use. Offering a full suite of apps – including Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes and Bookmarks – Zoho Mail allows you to easily manage and engage with contacts, create and track calendar events, automate tasks, and much more.

And with Gravity SMTP, you can now configure your site to use the Zoho Mail API to send WordPress emails – a faster and much more reliable option than using the traditional WordPress the wp_mail() function, which is based on the PHP mail function.

For more information on how to get started with Zoho Mail, check out the documentation.

Email Alerts via Slack and Twilio

For many, it’s imperative to know when WordPress emails stop sending, especially for sites that send a high volume of emails daily. Email downtime can upset customers, result in lost business, and have significant consequences for revenue.

With Gravity SMTP 1.6, you’ll find a new Alerts UI, where you can set up Slack and Twilio integrations. Once configured, you’ll receive instant notifications if email sending failure occurs, allowing you to quickly address and resolve any issues.

Slack Alerts

Within the Alerts Setting panel, there is the option to add multiple Slack webhook URLs and Twilio accounts, so your notifications can reach numerous channels, users, and SMS numbers if required. This provides a great way to keep your team in the know and stay on top of any email failures that occur on your WordPress sites or client sites.

Twilio Alerts

It’s important to note, Alerts has been shipped as an Experimental Feature (more on this below). You can enable this feature in Settings → Experimental Features.

For more information on how to get started with the new Alerts feature, check out the documentation.

Email Log Filtering

Alongside support for Zoho Mail and email alerts, Gravity SMTP 1.6 also incorporates a number of smaller features, a notable one being the addition of filtering within the email log for efficient monitoring and troubleshooting.

Email Log Filtering

With the enhanced log table, you’ll be able to easily filter and find logs based on certain criteria, including date, event type, and source. Easily navigate and analyze specific email logs sent on certain dates, from particular plugins, or via particular services to gain insights into your email sending performance.

Email Suppression List

With the new Suppression Management System that’s been added in 1.6, site admins will now be able to view and add to a suppression list, helping to manage email delivery by blocking specific addresses from receiving messages.

Suspressions

Currently, this feature only supports manual email suppression capabilities, allowing you to manually add emails to the list, track why and when they were suppressed, and reactivate them if needed.

Suppression list entries can also be searched using the search bar in the upper right corner of the Suppressions list page. The search will match any entered text against the email data of the sender, recipient, subject, and body text.

For more information on using the Suppression list, check out the documentation.

Experimental Features Area

Experimental Features

Within the Gravity SMTP Settings, with 1.6, you’ll find a new Experimental Features area. Moving forward, Gravity SMTP will occasionally introduce experimental features. These will be early versions of new functionality that are made available to users.

Experimental features will be marked as such to indicate that they are still in development and may change significantly based on your input and ongoing improvements. By making these features available, we aim to refine them collaboratively with you, ensuring they meet practical needs and align with expectations.

Currently, the new Alerts feature is available as an experimental feature and will need to be enabled within the Experimental Features area.

For more information on experimental features, check out the documentation.
