Google Analytics 1.3

We are pleased to announce the release of Google Analytics 1.3. We are releasing this update to prepare customers for the changes coming to Google Analytics – be sure to read on to find out more!

Google Analytics Add-On 1.3 includes…

  • Added warning message about upcoming end of life for Google Universal Analytics API.
  • Disabled automatic updates since the update from UA to GA4 will require user interaction.

Get Ready for GA4!

As many of you will know, Google’s Universal Analytics is nearing end of life and will stop processing data on July 1, 2023. Google is replacing Univeral Analytics with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and you will need to migrate your site to GA4 if you want to continue to track your form data.

Google Analytics Add-On 2.0 Coming Soon

To facilitate the change, we will be releasing Google Analytics Add-On 2.0 in the coming weeks – this update will enable you to track form data using GA4. However, to update to 2.0, you will be required to take these actions on your site:

  • Reauthentication with Google Analytics
  • Updating your form feeds

Note: If you have been using the Google Analytics Add-On in combination with Google Tag Manager to send data to GA4, you will still need take these above actions when you update to 2.0.

Automatic Updates Disabled

As part of today’s 1.3 release, and in preparation for 2.0, we have disabled automatic updates, so no site will be automatically updated to 2.0. This will ensure that your form data is still sent to Universal Analytics until you manually update the add-on (or until July 1, 2023 when Universal Analytics is discontinued).

It is also important to note that 2.0 will not be compatible with Universal Analytics. So if you wish to continue processing form data in Universal Analytics, you will need to stay on a previous version of the add-on (or again until July 1, 2023).

For more information about the coming changes, and what actions will be required of you, check out this documentation – Deprecation of Google’s Universal Analytics.

Our support team are also always on hand to help out – so if you’ve got Google Analytics Add-On questions, just ask!

Note: The Google Analytics Add-On is available with a Gravity Forms Elite license. For more information on the features and other add-ons that are available with this plan, check out the Elite License Plan page.
