Introducing Gravity Forms 2.9: New Multiple Choice Field
By Gravity Forms Published November 19, 2024We’re thrilled to announce our latest enhancement to form building: a new Multiple Choice field, included with the release of Gravity Forms 2.9!
The Multiple Choice field combines the functionality of the Checkboxes and Radio Buttons fields into a single, versatile field. Don’t worry, the Checkboxes and Radio Buttons fields aren’t going anywhere, but the new Multiple Choice field is a powerhouse, and really is the best of both worlds.
The Multiple Choice field simplifies form creation and adapts to your needs, all while enhancing the end-user experience.
When it comes to updating Gravity Forms, as with all our major updates, the launch of 2.9 is via a phased rollout. This ensures smooth adoption and provides a ramped approach to gathering feedback. During the multi-week rollout phase, you’ll receive the update via WordPress Admin.
However, if you want to start using the Multiple Choice field right away, you can download 2.9 directly from your Gravity Forms account dashboard.

The Multiple Choice field streamlines how you gather information from your users by providing unprecedented flexibility. The best part is that it’s also easy to configure.
Whether you want to allow your users to select multiple answers, or choose just one, this field handles it all with a simple settings adjustment.
The field automatically adjusts its appearance between radio buttons and checkboxes based on your settings, ensuring users will understand exactly how to interact with it.

Select Multiple (resulting in checkboxes):
Additionally, you can set selection limits by choosing either an exact number or range of choices a user can select.

You can also allow users to select all choices, and even customize the “Select All” text.
Saving Historical Form Entries
Another powerful feature of the new Multiple Choice field is its ability to handle choice modifications in the field settings without impacting previous submissions.
Add new options, remove old ones, or change their order; your historical form entries remain intact and accessible.
